We can quilt, bind, and then donate them in your name
Mini quilts are so much fun to make!
Size requirements:
FINISHED QUILTS ONLY - Please no binding or batting for premie quilts.
*Please only send quilt tops that meet our size requirements. Tops that are too small will be put aside for volunteers to alter, as time and money allows.
*Please don't donate used quilts or ANY item in need of repair.
*Use new, 100% cotton fabric only. Quality flannel is also accepted.
*NO seasonal prints** Quilts that are gifted are used year-round.
*Don't sew selvages into your quilt top.
*Please press your seams.
*Trim loose threads and remove all pins.
*We prefer machine binding for quilts (this holds up better than hand binding when being washed a ton.)
*If you aren't bordering your quilt top - Make sure your end pieces aren't coming apart. (Use a 1/4" to scant 1/4" seams allowance to top stitch, if needed.)
These quilts are given to children and teens with serious health problems or who are dealing with abuse and trauma. We want the quilts they receive to be loved and to last for years. Please use ideas, patterns and/or fabrics that they will love.
We also donate to our local nursing homes, infusion, and cancer centers.
Any donations that aren't "kid-friendly" will be put aside for them.
WANT TO HELP BUT DON'T SEW?
-crocketed blankets for premise (14x14 inches) - Soft hand feel yards that are safe for babies.
-Ragged, Hand-Tied Quilts and Tied Fleece Blankets: at least 50" inches long (these are for older kids, where the tiny threads that might come off won't pose a choking hazard.)
Please be aware that if you donate a quilt top that is too big or small, we might alter it to match our preferred size. This can entail adding borders or dividing up big quilt tops into smaller ones. If your quilt top is something that isn't suitable for children or teens, we might add an appliqué, a cute backing, or set it aside for cancer patients or our local nursing home.
